DMP develops a software application tool inside a well known accountancy software package in The Netherlands.
The new application systematically generates management information about the clients basic private and business financial information that is contained in the accountants systems.
This private and business information will be projected in a dashboard from a ‘different’ angle. This angle will be holistic. It is commonly known that the future of accountants, specially in smaller business environments, is in the role as business coach, and this requires a holistic approach.
Current accountant software on the other hand is focused on the accountancy process itself and in a one-on-one environment. The accountant himself has to create the helicopter view and in the medium and bigger accountancy firms the employees are not trained or stimulated to perform this activity. The strict budgets and having to record every minute of activity is one of the reasons, another reason is the competence profile of an average accountant. In that profile the holistic approach does not score high.
Because of this, the segment of smaller to medium companies is not well represented in the ranking of realized advisory hours of the accountancy firms.
With the MIS that DMP software will generate, the accountancy firms management can get a ‘holistic’ dashboard on these clients and start exploiting these hidden needs with behaviour change programs. Also the customer satisfaction will be elevated.

My most recent venture has been a web-based service (www.mAnagr.com) focused on the needs of managers of grassroots football (soccer) teams.  It enables them to administer squads and facilitates communication with players and officials via email or SMS, allowing matches to be arranged, planned and reported more easily.  Season’s statistics are then compiled, and end of season memorabilia offered by the company. 

The service is offered free of charge; revenue is generated via advertising and an on-line shop selling items team managers typically require (e.g. football kit, teamwear, own-branded footballs, training equipment and end-of-season trophies). 

Since the service’s launch in September 2006, formal support has been obtained from six County FAs and from the PFA and has attracted user registrations from each of the continents.
